One initiative is being run by the City of Peekskill, and the other by Black Diamonds Academic Success, Inc., a nonprofit organization focusing on youth achievement.

 

In the New York State Senate, we have passed common sense gun laws. But we need to do more.

 

It is essential that young people in our communities learn skills to resolve disputes and conflicts peacefully. These state grants will allow this city’s leadership to work collaboratively throughout the community to address the problem of gun violence.

 

It comes down to this: working together for all of us, helping to create solutions and facing the challenges ahead with honesty and integrity.

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement regarding the guilty plea of Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Allen Weisselberg, after an investigation by her office and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg: 

“There is zero tolerance for individuals who defraud our state and cheat our communities. For years, Mr. Weisselberg broke the law to line his own pockets and fund a lavish lifestyle. Today, that misconduct ends. Let this guilty plea send a loud and clear message: we will crack down on anyone who steals from the public for personal gain because no one is above the law.” 

In July 2021, Mr. Weisselberg was indicted on 15 felony charges for his role in a tax scheme that involved failing to pay New York state and federal income taxes on approximately $1.7 million in compensation.

(Port Chester, NY) – Attention gardeners of New York State Senate District 37! State Senator Shelley B. Mayer is calling for submissions to Blooming in the ’Burbs; a multi-category, district-wide home garden showcase.   Senator Shelley B. Mayer said: “I know how much planning, ingenuity, hard work and creativity goes into every home garden, whether it fills an entire yard or blooms in pots and window boxes. Gardens are a great source of beauty, but they also contribute to the health of our community and our planet by reducing soil erosion, absorbing carbon dioxide and other pollutants, releasing oxygen, and attracting the pollinators that are so important for our food supply. I look forward to seeing your garden!” Residents may share photos or videos of their gardens in one or more of the following categories: Sustainable Garden: Gardeners committed to a healthy planet can showcase their native, pollinator-friendly, pesticide-free plants and flowers. Yard-to-Table Garden: Gardeners who grow their own food can take this opportunity to show off the fruits—and vegetables, herbs and spices—of their labor.
