New York State Insider: Election Desk News 2022: Conservative Party: Vote 'No' on Proposition One.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Statement from New York State Conservative

Party Chairman Gerard Kassar

October 31, 2022

VOTE ‘NO’ ON BALLOT PROPOSITION #1

ENVIRONMENTAL BOND ACT.

“New York voters are being asked to authorize new state debt of $4.2 billion through the sale of bonds for certain capital projects relating to the environment. The Conservative Party opposes the passage of the Environmental Bond Act; previous

environmental bond acts still have millions of dollars unspent.

“The Conservative Party, since its founding in 1962, has worked to be a respected fiscal watchdog for New York’s taxpayers and all future New Yorkers who will suffer under the weight of expanding debt. Currently New York’s debt obligations are in excess of $160 billion. That amounts to almost $8,500 dollars in state debt for every single adult and child in New York State. That is $34,000 in state debt alone for a family of four.

“New Yorkers do not need another $4.2 billion in public debt, together with its resulting debt service, due to actions by the Federal Reserve, will be issued at the highest interest rates New Yorkers have seen in decades.

“The Act and arguments in favor reference a number of projects that appear to warrant

consideration. However, The Conservative Party maintains that a full review and application of all funds that remains from previous state actions should be used before an additional $4.2 billion is incurred.

“Despite our concern with the Biden Administration’s massive public work projects authorized over the past twelve months, billions in funds are likely to come to our state. These billions should be used prior to New York State raising capital revenue through the passage of said Bond Act.

“We fear New York State’s reputation for unchecked spending will result in the possibility of the state legislature spending the entirety of the $4.2 billion on projects that should be paid with existing authorized debt, new federal sources, and pay as you go where possible.

“The Conservative Party urges a NO VOTE ON BALLOT PROPOSITION ONE.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: New York State Senator Pete Harckham: An Endorsement from the Record-Review!

I just received an endorsement for reelection to the State Senate from the Bedford – Lewisboro – Pound Ridge Record-Review. Here it is:

“Pete Harckham is running for a third term. Due to redistricting, if elected, he will represent the Town of Bedford, but drop Pound Ridge, while continuing to serve Lewisboro, where he lives. These changes have no bearing on our support for his reelection. His legislative record is outstanding. He has co-sponsored major bills supporting advances in substance abuse treatment and protecting women’s reproductive rights. He is attuned to the heavy burdens the economy is now imposing on New Yorkers, and can point to legislation he has supported that deliver tax cuts and targeted tax relief to seniors. He also has been a leader on environmental issues, an advocate for victims of domestic violence and accelerating the transition to clean energy in transportation and other areas. He has directed state funds to study water quality in lakes and to purchase fire rescue equipment and a new police vehicle in Lewisboro. Mr. Harckham is the Democratic and Working Families Party candidate.

“Speaking at a League of Women Voters forum on Oct. 17, despite their platform differences, Mr. Harkham and his opponent...share common ground on a number of issues, such as a woman’s right to choose and the moral imperative for human treatment of immigrants…

“In the end, we find ourselves agreeing with Mr. Harckham’s statement also made at the forum—namely, that in these challenging times, ‘Experience matters.’ The state senator, who also served on the Westchester County Board of Legislators and in several statewide roles, has the experience needed to serve another term.”

I truly appreciate these kind and humbling words. But this campaign is not over yet.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Pete

New York State Insider: New York State Attorney General: Attorney General James Releases Statement on the Passing of Reverend Doctor Calvin Butts.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 28, 2022.

Attorney General James Releases Statement
on the Passing of Reverend Doctor Calvin Butts.

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James today released the following statement on the passing of Reverend Doctor Calvin O. Butts, III, who served the Abyssinian Baptist Church and the wider Harlem and New York community for decades:

“Reverend Dr. Calvin Butts was an icon, spiritual leader, and powerful voice for progress. An educator and trusted advisor, Rev. Dr. Butts helped shape young minds at SUNY Old Westbury and provided guidance to anyone who asked for his ministry and his wisdom. Through his leadership of the Abyssinian Baptist Church, he helped promote social change throughout his community and far beyond. His leadership transcended religious differences and was instrumental in building economically vibrant and spiritually strong institutions in Harlem and across New York City. My heart is with Rev. Dr. Calvin Butts’ wife, children, grandchildren, and all those who benefited from the love, wisdom, and passion he brought into their lives. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a source of strength and inspiration for generations to come.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: STATEMENT FROM GINA ARENA, CANDIDATE FOR STATE SENATE.

STATEMENT FROM GINA ARENA, CANDIDATE FOR STATE SENATE.

“With early voting starting tomorrow, our campaign has never been stronger. We have met thousands and thousands of voters and their message is loud and clear: we need change in Albany.

Our state has become dangerously unsafe and unaffordable, and my opponent Peter Harckham has offered no solutions to tackle these top concerns of New Yorkers. In fact, high crime and high taxes is Peter’s own doing. The people of the Hudson Valley deserve better from their State Senator.

I am running for all of us. On November 8th, we must vote to save our state. We must restore public safety. We must cut taxes, curb reckless spending, and combat inflation. And we must clean up Albany corruption and dysfunction. Our message transcends politics, so whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent, it would be my honor to earn your vote.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: NY-17: Maloney to Siphon DCCC Money for Self in 'Toss Up' Race.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NY-17: AS COOK POLITICAL REPORT UPGRADES RACE TO ‘TOSS UP’; REP. MALONEY PLANNING TO SPEND DCCC MONEY ON HIMSELF.

NY-17-Oct. 24…As the highly-regarded Cook Political Report upgrades the race for congress in New York’s 17th District to “toss up” status, faltering NY-17 candidate and Democratic Congressional Committee (DCCC) Chairman Sean Maloney is preparing to divert millions of dollars raised for other Democratic candidates into his own race, the campaign of congressional candidate Mike Lawler today charged.

“When it comes right down to it, Sean Maloney will siphon off money from any other Democrat to fund his own spiraling campaign,” said Lawler spokesman Bill O’Reilly. “Mr. Maloney disingenuously announced last week that he will recuse himself from any DCCC funding decisions about his own race, which loosely translates to: ‘I’m taking every penny I can get from the DCCC.’ After championing the disastrous, failed Democrat gerrymandering effort in New York, and forcing out of office a sitting gay, black congressman so Mr. Maloney could run in a ‘better’ district, Mr. Maloney is showing just how much he thinks everything is about him. It's finally caught up with him.”

Senator Shelley B. Mayer's Statement On St. Louis High School Shooting.

“My heart breaks for all those affected by this morning’s shooting at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School in St. Louis. Schools used to be places where our children could feel safe – that is simply no longer the case. Again, we have a community left reeling in the pain of a tragedy that has become far too common. We cannot tolerate it. We must continue to press forward on proven solutions to gun violence.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: NY-17: Rep, Maloney Raids $600k in DCCC Funds for Own Faltering Campaign.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SELF-DEALING REP. MALONEY RAIDS DCCC FUNDS OF $600,000 FOR HIS OWN FALTERING CAMPAIGN.

NY-17, Oct. 24…Rep. Sean Maloney, who’s job as Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), is to distribute money to the campaigns of Democratic candidates for congress all across America, is now siphoning money away from other candidates from his own party in a desperate last-minute attempt to save his own faltering campaign, it was learned today.

Maloney’s DCCC just put more than $600,000 of its funds behind ads falsely attacking Mr. Maloney’s opponent, Assemblyman Mike Lawler, according to news reports. Mr. Maloney is running in New York’s 17th Congressional District after controversially using his position as DCCC chairman to push incumbent African-American Congressman Mondaire Jones from the race.

Mr. Maloney has also been heavily criticized for gallivanting around Europe in recent weeks on so-called “fundraising trips.” Mr. Maloney’s own staff admitted that the Congressman has been on a “10-city tour”, which included Paris, London, and Geneva. The Maloney campaign refuses to list the other cities he’s been visiting.

Mr. Maloney has been further lambasted by members of his own party for spending millions of dollars in DCCC funds to fund ‘far-right-wing’ Republicans in a Machiavellian attempt to interfere with GOP primaries.

“Sean Maloney’s selfishness knows no bounds,” said Lawler spokesman Bill O’Reilly. “After what he did to Congressman Jones, and after the millions he blew trying to get cute in the primaries, Mr. Maloney is now robbing money from his fellow Democrats in a desperate attempt to save his own hide. He should have thought of what might happen to his candidacy before championing cashless bail, raising taxes on the middle class, and blowing a huge hole in the pockets of his constituents with ill-conceived inflationary votes.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: Endorsement Alert: NY-17: The Jewish Press Endorses Mike Lawler for Congress.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: HE JEWISH PRESS ENDORSES MIKE LAWLER FORCONGRESS IN “[Lawler’s] is the kind of voice we need in Congress.”

NY-17-Oct. 21…The Jewish Press has endorsed Mike Lawler for congress in New York’s 17th District citing his strong commitment to protecting the Jewish community from woke anti-Semitism.

In endorsing Mr. Lawler for Congress The Jewish Press editors wrote

In the 17th CD we endorse Michael Lawler (Republican). While he certainly has embraced virtually all of our criticisms about the woke agenda, we were taken by his commitment if elected to propose legislation that would strip the University of California-Berkley of its public funding over a student resolution that would bar pro-Zionist speakers on campus. He said, ‘I’m speaking out on something happening in California because what happened there is becoming a norm everywhere.’ His is the kind of voice we need in Congress.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 21, 2022.

Statement From New York State Conservative Party
Chairman Gerard Kassar On Court Ruling Over Absentee Ballot Voting.

Brooklyn, NY - “The New York State Conservative Party commends today’s State Supreme Court decision that rightly preserves Election Day voting as an option for absentee ballot voters. Absentee ballot voters have had the right to amend their votes on Election Day for decades, and cynical attempts by Governor Hochul and the Democrat Party to strip them of those rights were wrong. This decision helps uphold the integrity of the electoral process, a major victory for New York voters and the rule of law.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: NY-17: On 41st Anniversary of Rockland Terrorist Police Slaying, Lawler Questions Maloney Support for Convicted Killer.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THURSDAY MARKS 41ST ANNIVERSARY OF MURDERS OF ROCKLAND POLICE OFFICERS WAVERLY BROWN AND

EDWARD O’GRADY, AND BRINKS GUARD PETER PAIGE.

Sean Parick Maloney Praised Early Release of Marxist Killer.

NY-17-Oct. 19…Forty one years ago tomorrow — October 20, 1981 — a gang of heavily-armed Marxist terrorists gunned down in cold blood two Rockland County police officers, Police Officer Waverly Brown and Police Officer Edward O’Grady, and Brinks truck guard Peter Paige, after the thugs committed a $1.6 million robbery at the Nanuet Mall. Another Brinks guard was shot and seriously wounded in the attack.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, a champion of today’s cashless bail fiasco, praised the early release of at least one of those convicted killers, Judith Clark, prompting Assemblyman and NY-17 congressional candidate Mike Lawler to ask if Maloney still stands by his praise for the convicted cop killer.

“It makes me sick to my stomach that New York State is releasing convicted cop killers on a regular basis now, and sicker still that those early releases are being praised by a member of congress from this area,” Assemblyman Lawler said. “Police Officers Brown and O’Grady were gunned down on that terrible October day while protecting us from stone-cold-killers who were part of an organization that had set off bombs all across the United States. Releasing their killers early is a sickening travesty of justice, and I seriously question Mr, Maloney’s judgment on this matter. When you release convicted cop killers early, you devalue your police force in the eyes of criminals and put the lives of other law enforcement officers in danger.”

Mr. Lawler spoke out last week against the early release of yet another convicted cop killer in New York State, Anthony Blanks, who could be back on the streets as soon as this week.

There has been no word about Mr. Blanks’ imminent release from Mr. Maloney.

New York State Insider: New York State Senator Shelley Mayer: Senator Mayer Recognizes Miller’s Toys as Historic Business.

Senator Mayer Recognizes Miller’s Toys as Historic Business.

https://www.facebook.com/ShelleyMayerSD37/videos/1522674268205246

(Mamaroneck, NY) – New York State Senator Shelley B. Mayer today announced Miller’s Toys of Mamaroneck has been added to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s Historic Business Preservation Registry.

The online registry was established by the legislature in 2020, as many businesses faced new and unique challenges, to honor and promote New York businesses that have been in operation for at least 50 years and that have contributed to their communities' character and history. It aims to provide educational and promotional assistance to ensure continued viability and success.

Senator Shelley B. Mayer said: “Whether it was a trip to pick out a special treat or a first bicycle, many of our neighbors have fond memories of Miller’s Toys. Thank you to Miller’s Toys for providing decades of fun to the children of Mamaroneck and surrounding communities, and to Brooke and Taka Andrews for their commitment to the family business.”

Miller’s Toys Owners Brooke and Taka Andrews said: “We are honored and humbled to be recognized by New York State as a Historic Business. It’s been our privilege to serve our community by striving to bring best-in-class products and services to multiple generations of local families. We hope that we can continue to bring fun, friendship and fitness to these families for years to come.”

Brooke and Taka Andrews are the third generation of the Miller family to own and operate Miller’s Toys in Mamaroneck. Irving Miller first opened the store on Mamaroneck Avenue in 1948. A few years later, he moved the business across the street to its current location, which features a brick exterior and large show windows. Miller’s mainly sold bicycles in the early years before introducing all sorts of outdoor play equipment including swing sets and trampolines in the 1970s. To this day, the store continues to expand and diversify its offerings for Westchester families.

Assemblyman Steve Otis said: “Miller’s Toys has been part of the childhood history and memory of generations of Westchester families. From toys, bikes, outdoor equipment, games and clothing – every visit to Miller’s brings excitement. It is fitting that Miller’s is now recognized in the NYS Historic Business Preservation Registry.”

Westchester County Legislator Catherine Parker said: “For those of us who live in the Sound Shore and have children in our lives, Miller’s Toys has been a staple of our shopping for holiday and birthday gifts for many years. As a former retailer myself, I know that it is no small accomplishment to keep evolving and reinventing to sustain business in a growing online world. Congratulations to Miller’s Toys for its recognition to the NYS Historic Business Preservation Registry.”

Village of Mamaroneck Trustee Nora Lucas said: “My husband and I, having grown up locally, are lifelong Miller's customers. Not only is Miller's the spot to find the perfect toy, they also go above and beyond - from finding the necessary part to repair the high chair, to delivering a toddler bed or locating a hard to find doll to replace the special one that was lost. Miller's is an important presence in our downtown. Miller's is a local treasure.”

Mamaroneck Historical Society Co-President John Pritts said: “Miller’s has been a fixture in our community my entire life here. It was the go to place for toys and bicycles when I was young. One of my favorite Christmas presents, my first big guys Schwin ten speed, came from Miller’s. Congratulations to the owners for this timeless recognition.”

The full registry can be found on the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s website. Those interested in being added to the registry in the future should contact their state representatives.

New York State Insider: Election Desk News 2022: Press Release: PETER HARCKHAM SILENT ON HOCHUL’S PAY TO PLAY CORRUPTION SCHEME THAT COST TAXPAYERS MILLIONS.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

PETER HARCKHAM SILENT ON HOCHUL’S PAY TO PLAY CORRUPTION SCHEME THAT COST TAXPAYERS MILLIONS.

Peter Harkcham Refuses to Speak Out Against Dirty Deal That Gave $637 Million No-Bid Contract to Top Hochul Donor & Fleeced Taxpayers for Twice the Price of Covid Tests.

SOMERS, NY – Candidate for State Senate Gina Arena today blasted her opponent Peter Harckham for staying silent on Governor Hochul’s massive pay-to-play corruption scam that gave a $637 million no-bid contract to her top donor.

A series of news reports have detailed numerous instances of Hochul’s pay-to-play, including a corrupt deal that was done after she reauthorized her emergency powers to circumvent the normal procurement process and awarded a $637 million no-bid contract to a company whose owners and family members donated $300,000 to the governor and held a fundraiser for her campaign. The contract was given to Digital Gadgets, a company known for selling hoverboards through QVC, for COVID tests that were sold to New York for twice the amount of what the state of California paid.

Peter Harckham stayed silent as the governor repeatedly renewed her emergency powers and on the kickback schemes that have put Hochul under fire from even other Democrats.

“For more than two years, Peter Harckham has abdicated his constitutional duty to provide legislative oversight and handed over unchecked power to the corrupt Cuomo-Hochul regime. This is one of the most brazen schemes in our state’s history that has robbed taxpayers of millions and millions of dollars. Residents across our district are concerned about this corrupt deal, yet Peter is nowhere to be found. It is clear that Peter Harckham is complicit and we will never clean up Albany unless we change who represents us,” said Gina Arena, State Senate Candidate for SD-40.

Since Gina Arena announced her bid for State Senate, she has been vocal of her concerns of the unilateral emergency powers the Governor still had – which allowed Hochul to avoid the competitive state bidding process and Comptroller oversight. Gina Arena called for a full investigation into this pay-to-play scandal on September 16th. At the time, Gina Arena said, “Scandal has plagued Albany for years. Like you, I’ve had enough. I am officially calling for an investigation into this pay-to-play scandal. Taxpayers of the Hudson Valley deserve the full story and full accountability.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk 2022 News: NY-17: Absentee Rep. Maloney Refuses to Tell Constituents Where He's Been.

Recent 10-City Tour; Will Not Say Where Else He’s Been as

Constituents Struggle with Food and Heating Costs.

NY-17-Oct. 19…Rep. Sean Maloney, Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), has been on a 10-city international junket while his constituents struggle with food and heating costs, according to his own staff, but the congressman is refusing to reveal where he’s been traveling, the campaign of congressional candidate Mike Lawler today noted.

Thanks to photographic evidence, though, it’s known that Mr. Maloney’s recent travels have included jaunts to Paris, London, Geneva, and Los Angeles. That leaves six mystery cities for Mr. Maloney to reveal to his constituents.

“Mr. Maloney is supposed to be representing families in the Hudson Valley, but he seems to want to be anywhere other than in his district,” said Lawler spokesman William O’Reilly. “Hudson Valley families, who pay his salary, have a right to know where the absentee congressman has been spending his time, as they struggle with heating and grocery costs here at home. Is he really not going to let his employers know where’s been?”
