(White Plains, NY) – New York State Senator Shelley B. Mayer and White Plains Mayor Tom Roach today broke ground on the city’s new Veterans Memorial Garden, which will be located in the publicly accessible green space behind White Plains City Hall.

Senator Shelley B. Mayer said: “I was pleased to provide funding to ensure a dedicated space for White Plains’ USS Maine deck gun. This garden is an excellent addition to City Hall that will allow our residents to connect with our history and the sacrifice of our veterans for many years to come. Thank you to Mayor Tom Roach and the City of White Plains for your vision and your continued support of the veterans community.”

Mayor Tom Roach said: “The Veterans Memorial Garden will serve as a reminder of the heroic men and women who put their lives at risk to protect our freedom. The Common Council and I are grateful to Senator Shelley Mayer who has generously provided state funding for this important project. The Veterans Memorial Garden project is a perfect illustration of how strong partnerships and effective intergovernmental collaboration ensure that the quality of life of our residents continues to be enhanced.”

Senator Mayer secured $62,000 in state funding for the construction of the project.

The garden will feature a deck gun from the USS Maine – which was donated to the city in 1915 by the White Plains Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was originally displayed in the Battle of White Plains Park, an explanatory plaque, markers to identify each branch of the military, plantings, and benches for quiet contemplation. Additionally, it will be a complement to the Veterans Memorial plaques located inside the City Hall Rotunda.

Senator Mayer and Mayor Roach were joined by Council Member Jennifer Puja, Council Member Victoria Presser, and members of the White Plains veterans community for the groundbreaking.

New York State Insider: Election 2022 Desk News: NY-17: Rep Maloney on Mystery 10-City Tour While Constituents Struggle.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WHERE HAS REP. SEAN MALONEY BEEN?

Congressman on Mystery 10-City Tour.

NY-17-Oct. 17…While Hudson Valley families struggle to afford groceries, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney has been on a mystery 10-city tour that includes Paris, London, and Geneva, Switzerland, but Mr. Maloney has not yet revealed to his constituents the seven other cities to which he’s traveling.

“Hudson Valley families are getting crushed with astronomically high electric, heat, and grocery prices, and their congressman is nowhere to be found,” noted Lawler for Congress spokesman William O’Reilly. “His office finally admitted that Mr. Maloney has been on a 10-city tour that includes jaunts to Paris, London, and Geneva, but his constituents deserve to know his full travel itinerary. They deserve to know where their congressman has been.”

New York State Insider: Election Desk News 2022: NY-17: Get This: Globetrotting Rep. Sean Maloney Put House Up for Rent All Summer, While Constituents Struggled to Pay Bills.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: GET THIS: GLOBETROTTING CONGRESSMAN MALONEY PUT HIS HOUSE UP FOR RENT ALL SUMMER.

No Wonder He’s Out of Touch with Constituents.

NY-17, Oct. 17…It almost defies belief: Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney has been gallivanting around the globe on a 10-city tour, including Paris, London, and Geneva, while his constituents struggle to pay for groceries. Now, it’s been learned that Mr. Maloney and his spouse put their 7,000-square foot Cold Springs estate up for rent in the months of July and August this year. Mr. Maloney, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, even listed his home on foreign websites, raising national security as well as ethical concerns.

The rental advertisement lists the six-bedroom, nine-bathroom Maloney home as an “Elegant Hudson Valley Estate with River Views” and a pool. The ad makes it clear that renters would have the entire estate to their own. It’s not clear whether Maloney’s house was ultimately rented, but prospective renters were advised of a “Minimum 2 month rental from July 1-Aug 31” when Maloney was supposed to be in his district serving constituents. Maloney earns a base salary of $174,000 as a congressman and thousands more for his so-called leadership positions.

“It’s becoming increasingly clear that Congressman Maloney has zero interest in the lives of his own constituents,” said Assemblyman and congressional candidate Mike Lawler. “When he’s not living it up in Paris, London, Geneva, L.A. and elsewhere, he’s renting out his house to go God knows where for the summer. Hudson Valley families are genuinely struggling with 40-year-high inflation and terrifying crime rates, while Mr. Maloney sips chardonnay alongside the Seine River in Paris. That pretty much says it all.”
