Assemblymember Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mt.Pleasant) is outraged over the dangerous condition of New York roads so early in the pothole season. He is calling for New Yorkers to express their “road rage” to Governor Kathy Hochul about the condition of New York’s roads and is calling for the Governor to take immediate action. “Wicked winter weather has wrecked our roads – recent rains surfaced plenty of snow-covered potholes,” said Abinanti. “New York drivers are now dodging a dangerous moonscape.”
Abinanti is urging drivers to report every dangerous road condition to 1-800-POTHOLE so the Governor knows that drivers are paying attention. He is also calling for the Governor to immediately deploy a statewide special POTHOLE S.W.A.T. TEAM (Save Wheels And Tires) working day and night to repair dangerous conditions on state roads.
The Westchester Assemblymember applauded the significant increase in monies for road and bridge repair proposed in the Executive Budget but said that New York drivers can’t wait until the budget is passed at the end of March.
“My front tire fell victim to a crater-sized monster on a dark road as I drove home from Albany last week,” noted Abinanti. “We can’t allow these road hazards to worsen as the winter continues and watch as they cause serious accidents.” |
