New York State Insider: New York State Senator Pete Harckham 42nd District: Getting Back to Work.

When the State Legislature was working with Governor Hochul on a FY2023 State Budget, one of our main goals—perhaps our top goal—was getting New Yorkers back to work.

That meant big investments in child care, education and small businesses.

And we delivered.

·         $7 billion in child care funding, plus $1.6 billion in additional child care vouchers.

·         A whopping $287 million in Foundation Aid for schools in Senate District 40.

·         $15 million for new pre-K slots in the district as well.

·         The continuation of the small business grant program ($200 million—based on my legislation!—plus another $200 million).

·         $250 million for Covid-related expenses for small businesses.

Plus major investments in healthcare and home care workers. Environmental protections, like my freshwater wetlands bill. Transportation and infrastructure improvements.

We are getting New Yorkers back to work.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

New York State Senator Pete Harckham 42nd District.
