New York State Insider: New York State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti 92nd District: More Seniors & People with Disabilities Eligible for Property Tax Exemption.

Abinanti is Taking Care of Our Seniors
and People with Disabilities.

Assemblymember Tom Abinanti's bill to raise the income threshold to make more seniors and people with disabilities eligible for the NYS partial property tax exemption passed both houses of the legislature and awaits the Governor's action. The bill would raise the income threshold from $29,000 to $50,000 effective July 1, 2022.

"Especially in this time of rising prices, we need to do everything we can to reduce the cost of living for those who are financially vulnerable due to their limited incomes," said Abinanti. "We need to help those who have lived in our community stay in our community."

The property tax exemption is a local opt-in but most localities have done so. For more information, click here
