After a 24-hour around the clock session, the Legislature adjourned at 8 o’clock Saturday morning.
The Legislature ended its scheduled session early Saturday morning after passing legislation to improve the lives of New Yorkers in virtually every area.
We buttressed democracy by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act and other voting rights legislation.
Following our addition of “Roe V. Wade” protections to New York law, we passed several bills to ensure reproductive freedom in New York including a bill blocking New York officials from cooperating with states attempting to interfere with abortions legally in New York.
With gun violence rampant throughout the country, we were the first to pass a serious response including requiring a license to purchase a weapon like an AR-15 and raising the age from 18 to 21.
In our battle to combat climate change we passed hundreds of other bills to better the lives of New Yorkers.
