NY-17-Oct. 24…As the highly-regarded Cook Political Report upgrades the race for congress in New York’s 17th District to “toss up” status, faltering NY-17 candidate and Democratic Congressional Committee (DCCC) Chairman Sean Maloney is preparing to divert millions of dollars raised for other Democratic candidates into his own race, the campaign of congressional candidate Mike Lawler today charged. 

“When it comes right down to it, Sean Maloney will siphon off money from any other Democrat to fund his own spiraling campaign,” said Lawler spokesman Bill O’Reilly. “Mr. Maloney disingenuously announced last week that he will recuse himself from any DCCC funding decisions about his own race, which loosely translates to: ‘I’m taking every penny I can get from the DCCC.’ After championing the disastrous, failed Democrat gerrymandering effort in New York, and forcing out of office a sitting gay, black congressman so Mr. Maloney could run in a ‘better’ district, Mr. Maloney is showing just how much he thinks everything is about him. It's finally caught up with him.”
