FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Assemblyman and NY-17 congressional candidate Mike Lawler (at podium) is joined by Sons of Italy of Blauvelt members and other concerned citizens at a news conference on Thursday, October 6 blasting efforts by New York State Democrats (A.10728 - Mitaynes; S. 2759 - Ramos) to eliminate Columbus Day in New York State and replace it with “Indigenous People’s Day.” Assemblyman Lawler noted at the news conference that Columbus Day is an important U.S. holiday for Americans of both Italian and Spanish descent.
